The collection Coral Avenue was inspired by the styles of designer Dapper Dan. Born August 8, 1944 in Harlem, New York. He made tailor made garments for Rappers, Athletes, drug dealers and friends underground using luxury brand logos without permission, with his designs in the 80’s. In 2017 Gucci copied one of his Design’s, which ended up making him more well-known present day.
Design Details:
For Dapper Dan’s streetwear looks in the 80’s in currently, oversized silhouettes and bomber jackets are common.
Sewing Techniques:
Silhouette and structure, so the woven fabrics used and construction always makes his looks appear very structured and well-fitting.
Pattern Making:
Added fullness at the sleeve in the streetwear looks for fuller sleeves in the 80’s looks and current.
